Mt. View Orchards is a third-generation family farm established in 1974. Mt. View’s fifty-plus acres are nestled at the northern base of Mt. Hood, whose rich, volcanic loam soil and yearly snow runoff provide optimal conditions for growing fruit.
The orchard was planted over a hundred years ago. Today, most of the original fruit trees have been replaced many times over—with one exception. Right at the heart of the orchard, just alongside the Orchard Meadow, there stands a row of century-old Golden Delicious trees, which continue to produce some of the sweetest apples in the region year after year. Our “Golden Row” symbolizes the blessing we wish for every Mt. View Orchards wedding—that the union of two hearts, families, and futures would grow strong and be fruitful for many years to come.
ORCHARD WEDDINGS AT MT. VIEW ORCHARDS
Since I was five years old, I have dreamt of hosting weddings and special events at Mt. View Orchards. Shortly after purchasing Mt. View from my parents in 2014, I began making plans to build our wedding/event venue. I had already designated the perfect spot—a small meadow, where we usually grew corn, right in the heart of the orchard. I then worked with an architect to design our wood-beam pavilion as well as our catering and bar sheds. Construction began in November 2015 and wrapped just a few days before our first wedding this July.
Everyone who has attended one of our events this summer (and we also held a few while the venue was partially finished) has expressed their delight in the venue. They can’t say enough about the view of Mt. Hood, which is truly spectacular, and the beauty and charm of the 100-year-old apple and pear trees surrounding the meadow. We’ve also received a lot of appreciative comments about the venue’s peace and privacy.
